Last Day Activities & Summer Ideas

Good Evening Everyone,
The last few days have been full of fun and excitement. The girls really enjoyed going on their first out-of-town field trip. It was a fast paced day, touring the various sites and exhibits. I will publish some of the many photos taken throughout the day yesterday. A big thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters that came along for the field trip; your presences yesterday help to make this a really positive experience for all.

Today we celebrated the end of the successful school year by having a cookout. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as they played, laughed, socialized, and most importantly ate. All that was important to me was the girls’ happiness and they looked pretty happy to me. ;-)   I greatly appreciate all of the food and help that was given today, this was the only way this event could have been so successful. I would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Stephens; he grilled all of the hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken.

Tomorrow is the last day of school and the last N.U.T. pass day. The cost is $1.00 if you have not already paid in advance.  In addition to N.U.T. pass day there will be the 850 club celebration and Water Wars.  The entire fourth grade will participate in a major water gun/water balloon fight.  If your child would like to participate tomorrow they will need to bring a change of clothes and a towel, swimsuits are not permitted.

I believe this has been an awesome school year and I am so proud of each of my “babies”. I believe each young lady has the potential to go forth and achieve greatness on whatever path they choose to take in their lives.  I hope many years from now I will be able to say “Wow I taught her and now she is a_____.” I believe that blank will be filled with doctor, lawyer, senator, singer, actor, artist, teacher, principal, marine, or whatever career best suits their personalities and gifts.  These ladies are definitely headed for greatness!

Although I will no longer be your child’s teacher, please fill free to stop by and say hello next year. If there is ever anything you need please do not hesitate to contact me and I will see what I can do to be of help. There truly are not enough words to explain the kindness and appreciation that I have felt this school year. When you are a teacher you are not only working with the child in your class but with that child’s entire family and each of you have made this a wonderfully positive experience.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!!!!

Recommendations for the summer
1.       Go to the library and join a reading club.
2.       Take a notebook with you everywhere you go and write down something new you learned during the day.
3.       Read a book a grade level higher than the previous book you read.
4.       Go to ‘School Box’ the educational store and buy workbooks that cover fifth grade standards. One of the better series is “The Summer Bridge for Fourth to Fifth Grade”.
5.        Review your math skills using your math Coach book.
