Last Day Activities & Summer Ideas

Good Evening Everyone,
The last few days have been full of fun and excitement. The girls really enjoyed going on their first out-of-town field trip. It was a fast paced day, touring the various sites and exhibits. I will publish some of the many photos taken throughout the day yesterday. A big thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters that came along for the field trip; your presences yesterday help to make this a really positive experience for all.

Today we celebrated the end of the successful school year by having a cookout. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as they played, laughed, socialized, and most importantly ate. All that was important to me was the girls’ happiness and they looked pretty happy to me. ;-)   I greatly appreciate all of the food and help that was given today, this was the only way this event could have been so successful. I would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Stephens; he grilled all of the hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken.

Tomorrow is the last day of school and the last N.U.T. pass day. The cost is $1.00 if you have not already paid in advance.  In addition to N.U.T. pass day there will be the 850 club celebration and Water Wars.  The entire fourth grade will participate in a major water gun/water balloon fight.  If your child would like to participate tomorrow they will need to bring a change of clothes and a towel, swimsuits are not permitted.

I believe this has been an awesome school year and I am so proud of each of my “babies”. I believe each young lady has the potential to go forth and achieve greatness on whatever path they choose to take in their lives.  I hope many years from now I will be able to say “Wow I taught her and now she is a_____.” I believe that blank will be filled with doctor, lawyer, senator, singer, actor, artist, teacher, principal, marine, or whatever career best suits their personalities and gifts.  These ladies are definitely headed for greatness!

Although I will no longer be your child’s teacher, please fill free to stop by and say hello next year. If there is ever anything you need please do not hesitate to contact me and I will see what I can do to be of help. There truly are not enough words to explain the kindness and appreciation that I have felt this school year. When you are a teacher you are not only working with the child in your class but with that child’s entire family and each of you have made this a wonderfully positive experience.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!!!!

Recommendations for the summer
1.       Go to the library and join a reading club.
2.       Take a notebook with you everywhere you go and write down something new you learned during the day.
3.       Read a book a grade level higher than the previous book you read.
4.       Go to ‘School Box’ the educational store and buy workbooks that cover fifth grade standards. One of the better series is “The Summer Bridge for Fourth to Fifth Grade”.
5.        Review your math skills using your math Coach book.

Important Chattanooga Trip Info

Hello Wesley Family,

First, I would like to say thank you very much for the wonderful teacher appreciation greetings, flowers, and delicious treats.  Your kindness and generosity has made me feel loved and appreciated, thank you so much.
May 21, 2012 we will embark on our final field trip of the year.  Students attending the field trip need to be at the school at 6:15am on Monday morning. As soon as we are able to load the buses and take an account of all students we will leave for Chattanooga, Tennesse.  We hope to return to the school around 5:00pm.
Students will need to bring a lunch with them on the trip and an extra bottle of water.  Snacks will be provided during the day.
Students can bring extra money to make purchases from the gift shops but they must be responsible with their money and purchase. . Your child may bring electronics for the bus ride but they are entirely responsible for keeping track of them on their own. The teachers will not be responsible for any electronics/personal items brought on the trip. You may send your child with a small backpack or some type of bag for them to keep up with their personal belongings. They may wear jeans and a spirit shirt for the trip. It may be cool while touring the caves, so please have your child bring a light weight jacket.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2012 there will be an award ceremony in the MPR from 9:30 to 10:45; the awards will be given to those students that  made all A’s or A’s and B’s throughout the school year. After the ceremony I will conduct another ceremony in my classroom. Once all awards have been given out we will begin out cookout/picnic.  If you have not signed up to bring anything it is not too late. ;-)
Last quarter reports cards will be sent home through the mail.
Thank you and have a great weekend!

Ms. LT's End of Year Cookout - May 22nd

On May 22, 2012 I would like to have a cookout for the girls to celebrate the end of their fourth grade year. This has been a really productive year for the girls and I think they have earned an end of the year party.  In order to make this happen I will need lots of assistance from my wonderful parents ;-).  There is a writeboard with a list of all of the items we will need in order to make this a successful event.
Before the cookout/picnic there will be a small award presentation in my room at 9am.  It would be really wonderful if all parents could attend the “ceremony”.
On Wednesday of this week we will take our first of three field trips. We are going to Kennesaw to the Brunswick Zone XL bowling alley and game center.  The girls may wear a Wesley t-shirt, jeans, and socks. The following week we will have field day on May 16th and our field trip to Chattanooga will take place on May 21st. The girls and I are looking forward to each event.
