Wax Museum Tomorrow! Auction Deadline March 1st

Hello Everyone!
Tomorrow at 1:30, fourth grade will host the wax museum in the MPR.  Students should wear their uniforms to school; they will be given an opportunity to change into their costumes.
On March 7th and 8th Wesley International will conduct parent/teacher conferences.  Each of the two days are early release days.  The conferences will be lead by the student, so it is necessary for students to attend the conference.
Please practice multiplication facts with students daily because so much of their mathematical assignments are based upon them. Make it fun, while driving have them answer as many facts as they can before they reach the next stop light.
Parents please continue submitting items for the auction. The parent/family that donates the most items will receive a prize.

Donate a Kroger Gift Card for Raffle
Please donate a Kroger Gift Card in any amount - recommended to be $15 or more.  Similar to the wine raffle last year where parents donated bottles of wine, we are asking for Kroger gift cards for a Kroger raffle.  Gift cards can be dropped off in the PTA box in the WIA office.

Donations Still Needed & Due March 1
If you are donating something to the auction, asking for donations or need to turn in some donations you've acquired, please do so no later than March 1 so that they can all be included in the auction brochure.  The earlier the better as they have to be entered into a database.  There are prizes for both parents and classes whose donations bring in the highest dollar amount!  Donation forms can be downloaded here, www.wesleyacademy.org/auction.

Volunteers Needed for Auction
Please sign up to volunteer before and during the WIA Auction on March 9 or 10. Any assistance is greatly appreciated from 1 hour to 5 hours and there will be a sign in sheet on site so your hours are counted.  Auction site is Ambient+Studios in Mechansville, 585 Wells St. Unit A, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Progress Reports, Wax Museum and More!

Hello All!
I hope everyone had a great break, I sure did!
On Thursday progress reports went home; please sign the lower portion of the progress report and return it to school.  If there are any questions regarding the music grades please see Ms. Post.
If your child has any missing/late assignments they may turn them in for credit.  I will give everyone until February 29th; after the 29th missing assignments will not be accepted.
Due to the honor choir performance at the Hawk’s game, the spelling test will be given on Monday. This will give the girls more time to study for the weekly assessment.
Wednesday, February 29th from 1:30 to 2:15 (in the MPR ) the fourth grade students will conduct the wax museum. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
On March 7th and 8th parent /teacher conferences will take place; if you are interested in scheduling a meeting there is a new Write Board listing available times.
The Auction is March 10, 2012 and we are asking for everyone’s support to make this an affair to remember.  The girls are very excited about the class project and they are looking forward to designing the jewelry armoire.
I am very appreciative for the Valentine’s Day gifts! It means so much to me the kindness that my class has shown me this year.

Valentines Day and Other Class News

Hello Wesley Family,

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 is Valentine’s Day! The girls can bring cards to share with each member of the class and special treats.  The treats should consist of decorative pencils, erasers, notepads, stickers, or anything fun or girly. Candy, cookies, cupcakes or cakes will be limited to a few items I will purchase for the class.  If there are some parents that would like to send in juice and cups please let me know.  The names of the girls in the class are listed here: Student Names Page

IB PROJECTS A SUCCESS!
Hooray, the IB projects were a success! Everyone did a great job of planning and laying out the concepts for their projects. The projects were very creative and show a real understanding of the IB theme.

We will begin our next IB unit on Monday, February 13, 2012. This unit’s theme is how we express ourselves and autobiographies.  This should be a fun and interesting unit for the girls.

WIA AUCTION PROJECT
The Wesley International Auction will take place on March 10, 2012. Mrs. Jong (Zoe’s mom) came to our class today to talk about the class project with the girls.  They are all really excited and look forward to making the jewelry armoire (see pic in previous post).  It is suggested that each girl bring in a piece of jewelry to be added to the armoire.  We are also asking if there are skills or talents that parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors, shop keepers, and etc. would be willing to donate to be auctioned off the night of March 10th. All help will be appreciated.

CRCT PREP
We are now into the CRCT season so it is very important for each student to practice their academic skills by utilizing, Study Island and Acuity computer software. These are excellent tools for students to use as an assessment of their skills and abilities.

CLASSROOM NEEDS
We are in need of more paper towels and tissues for the classroom.
