CRCT , Auction and Other Class News!

Hello Wesley Family,
It is that time of year where we prepare for the up coming testing season. First we will take the CRCT in April and we will end the year with the Sat 10.  For this reason it is important to have everyone here everyday in order for them to take part in the daily instruction and review of the academic curriculum.  I will assign daily task for them to complete on the Study Island website.  Each girl should already have their login information to access the program. I will also assign weekend homework using the Study Island program as well.
Hooray! We were given our cubbies today.  Each girl has her very own place to put books, folders, pencil boxes, and etc.
Our very own Sophie Poels has become a world traveler; she is spending a week in France and Belgium. Her trip coincides with the IB belief of being an inquirer and learning about the world around you.  We can not wait for her return!
Parents please feel free to sign up for volunteering to lead a guided reading group on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
There will be an open house on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 5:30-7:30.
Please check Engrade regularly for updates to your child’s grades.
If you have not turned in your letter of intent to return to Wesley next year please do so.
Thank you parents for being so supportive and giving, there are not enough words to express the kindness I have felt from you this year. I truly enjoy working with your/my children.

Research Essay Details & MLK Jr. Day of Service Opportunity

Hello Wesley Family,

To celebrate birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. students will write a 5 paragraph essay on a person that is making an impact in the community, nation, or the world. The person selected for this research paper should be a living person that is currently making an impact. The students may use someone they know personally or they may use a well known figure.  This is not a biography of the persons life but an opportunity for students to research someone that completes positive tasks.  Students will write down information detailing the impact their person has made in the form of a 5 paragraph essay. The first paragraph is the opening, the next three paragraphs contains information about their person, the fifth and final paragraph is the summation of the paper. This can be handwritten or typed and the text should be in their own words. This assignment is due Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday vacation. I missed the girls and was really excited to see them and hear about their vacations.
Thank you so much for the Christmas gifts and well wishes; I greatly appreciate the kindness and support of my students and parents.
The girls enjoyed the Christmas tea, sampling the delicious teas and eating the tea cakes and cookies, sandwiches, and fruit.  They were very cute dressed in their finest wears; some wore hats to complete their very fashionable look.  Pinkies were raised and British accents were developed while they took part in our little holiday affair.  Thank you everyone for making this event possible.
The girls have been presenting their projects all this week and the projects are very creative and innovative.  I will post the links on the blog of those students that made web pages or blogs, please take a look at their work.
Report cards will come home on January 6, 2012. Please review your child’s grades and return the envelope and the bottom portion of the report card. Please be sure to check Engrade regularly for updates on grade information.  If you are in need of the access codes please let me know.
